Throughout the world, many introduced species have become woven into ecological processes over decades or centuries. The world is forever changing, and nature always balances itself.
Their presence can create new interactions, and their removal can produce unexpected outcomes. That doesn't mean introduced species should never be managed, but inhumanely shooting horses is not the answer. I find it incredible how so many average people will proudly justify the cull with no other reason than that they are labelled "feral".
Use that word, and people feel they can be as heartless and as cruel as they like.
When it suits the government, Dingoes can be inhumanely poisoned when the population increases. But if it were to drop, watch how they would suddenly be revered.
How do we now see the Thylacine? We all watch the little footage there is with deep awe, and a sadness that humans could carelessly wipe them from existence. But a hundred years ago, every person was out for their blood, with hatred deep in their hearts for no other reason than that is what those in power told them to feel. And they slaughtered them, just as they were told to do.
Think what you like, choose what side you will. But surely you should use your own brain and logic to decide how you feel, and not buy into the language that sways your perception of what is or isn't right.
